Getting around Adelaide
Adelaide has a good public transportation system that is used by locals and tourists alike. Called the Adelaide Metro, the system takes in buses, trains and trams. Buy a metroCARD for a single journey, or a three-day metro card for three days of unlimited travel. The train network runs to some destinations outside the city, although renting a car is the best option if you are planning lots of daytrips. Visit the State Transport Authority website.Browse Adelaide rental cars.
Best time to visit
Discover the quiet side to Adelaide, avoid crowds and make savings on accommodations by visiting in shoulder season. Shoulder season comes twice a year, between March and May (which is fall in Australia) and between September and November (spring). Expect temperatures to be in the 60s F to 70s F (15 to 20 C) during the day, but bring a sweater or a light jacket for the evenings, which are cooler.

Feb 29, 2020Cleland wildlife center is a great place to see koalas and kangaroos. It is possible to hold a koala, but you need to be there when it opens, as the day we were there they only allowed 7 "holds".

Feb 21, 2020After visiting Sydney and Cairns on this Aussie trip, we like Adelaide the best. It’s a city but still laid back. Tons of free things to explore and enjoy. And the weather is milder.
