“We arrived late due an issue on the train but we had a warm welcome. The room was lovely and it was so quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was fitted in around us, as i had a very early start, and was freshly cooked. Highly recommend this for a calm and quiet break.”

“Was a nice stop over on our road trip. This little bed and breakfast is operated with love by the owner. Rooms were clean and the communication was good. Breakfast was a typical British breakfast spread (eggs, bacon, beans, etc), though made with much more care than you can get in bigger hotels… good enough that we all finished it which we couldn’t do elsewhere!”

“Beautiful old building. Great area. Rooms were quite nice and clean. Just no staff were ever present in our three night stay. An elderly couple who couldn’t speak English sat in the front lobby, often. I’m not sure if they worked there cleaning rooms or were a guest but if the worked there they made no attempt to communicate or help out, which was an issue because the front door to the building on a busy street was always left open”

“Mr. Tan the host was always helpful and he was willing to prepare the breakfast for me earlier than usual. The guest house, however, is a little bit far away from the centre with approximately 40min walk if you are not taking buses.”

“The Shawlee Cottage is a convenient place to stay when you have a car as it is a short drive to Glasgow and the surrounding areas. The owners Sandy and Cathy make an effort to have a conversation with you around the breakfast table, and they sure do have stories to share. They make your stay very welcoming. ”

“Very nice stay in Sue's B'n'B. We were allowed to place our luggage prior to check-in and get back later. Sue's hospitality is of very high standard. Everything is in order, clean and nicely maintained. Nice breakfast, we were treated like kings and queens. When Sue found out that we had to leave early for the airport after the last night, instead of the breakfast she prepared three bags of 'survival kit' with fruit and biscuits to bring with us. “An amazing old but well maintained house, newly renovated with all the modern comfort in the middle of a huge park with meadows and old trees. Our room was very large and the beds really comfortable. The bath was in relation to the room a bit smaller with an even smaller sink anyway no reason to complain. A very good breakfast with extra wishes fulfilled where possible. There are a lot of parking lots just in front of the house. It was a very quiet place. There were lovely horses on the……

“I like the location. The bus is just next to the house. The responsable gave us some information about the famous attractions in Edinburgh. He has a dog called Tom. He's very friendly. It was the first time i wasn't scared of a dog. I noticed just that the room isn't warm enough. But in general i liked the experience”
