Lovely building full of character and nice grounds but nothing special.
The room was a good size and well equipped with large TV, dressing table, two chairs, another table good size wardrobe and cupboard.
The bed is well worn so that occupants roll towards the middle of the bed and one the chairs are different heights and the one for sitting at the desk is in need of attention because the seat pad is so worn it sinks into the frame of the chair.
We only got enough to make two hot drinks in the room for a 3 night stay, for milk sachets, two of each type of tea/coffee, two single biscuits. We had to beg for replenishments which were eventually bought to the room after chasing them up. (no biscuits though).
The real let down though was the breakfast. I went down to breakfast as soon as it opened, 7:00am. The food looked like it had been in the bain-marie for hours! It was inedible. The bacon had plasticised and was impossible to cut with a knife, no replacement was available we were told they were waiting for a delivery. The next day wasn't much better.
I have to say there was a huge improvement on day 3, it was clear the chef was different. Although, personally I didn't care much for the very dense sausages. We didn't have dinner at the hotel, if they can't do an English breakfast there's not much hope for dinner!
The staff in the dining room are lovely and couldn't apologise enough, always greeting you with a lovely warm smile.
Would I stay here again? Probably not.
