With new rules, restrictions and safety measures to adhere to, travel looks a little different at present. These are some helpful things to know before you hop on that plane to Raiatea:
- Find out if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before committing to a flight. Also check if there are any requirements you’ll need to follow on arrival, such as undergoing health assessments.
- When you go through airport checkpoints, keep your face mask on. You will be asked to lower it briefly to verify your identity. Travelers who refuse to wear a face mask may be fined and denied entry.
- To reduce the potential of cross-contamination, position your boarding pass on the reader yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your pass directly to a TSA agent.
- You are now allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on bag. This will need to be removed for screening.
- To minimize handling during screening, place personal items such as your belt, phone and wallet into your carry-on rather than into the bins.
- Transport your food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA officer will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.
