“A gem for everyone seeking a quiet retreat from city bustle, Oakbank Farm Cottage is still merely 20 minutes outside Dumfries. Linda and Rab are delightful, friendly hosts, helpful in every instance. We will be pleased to stay with them again when the opportunity arises.”

“Caravan was comfortable and was OK for the couple of nights we stayed However some half used items of food had been left in the fridge and the furnishings were a little worn. Caravan and bed were creaky although this was mainly down to the high winds the weekend we were there.”

Perfect wee village- pub excellent with a limited choice of pretty good pub grub and less than a 100yard stagger away! Lovely walks on the doorstep and beautiful scenery, and sheep.”

“A brilliant experience for a Birthday weekend, a home from home without teenagers. We were very well looked after from arrival, above and beyond. The accommodation was quiet, cosy but with lots of space to use. A perfect getaway. We will definitely book in again soon. Ian & Trudi ”

“There were issues with obtaining the checkin details in a timely manner. Property only superficially clean set in a not very pleasant location with an appalling access road. The boiler was extremely smelly and there were no instructions for the heating. Towels were totally inadequate in this day and age.”

“We loved our stay at Shinnel House. The garden really is lovely and we enjoyed staying home every other day. It was big enough for our family of 7 and had everything we needed.”

“The bedrooms were a generous size. With a large sitting room, spacious kitchen/diner, a separate dining room, and a second smaller sitting room with piano, there are plenty of options for getting together with your house guests. We were lucky with the weather, and ate breakfast on the patio and a barbecue in the garden. A memorable stay.”

“we had a lovely stay at templand cottages. The little cottage had everything as described. The most helpful and kind landlords. Absolutely relaxing private hot tub. Definitely quiet, no traffic, partying or other noise will disturb you there. Breathtaking view and although remote, it’s only a 20min walk or 5min drive to the town (for groceries or a afternoon coffee…) Lots of places to visit within 40min (or shorter) drive away. One of the few places we have been to, we would definitely like to……

“Ideally located, cosy cottage. Good facilities, good heating (we stayed during a cold snap in December). Easy to find on the main road, although that main road may mean light sleepers may lose some sleep in the front bedroom. Would definitely return.”

“The apartment was ok with really good views, however it does state that there is a washer in the property but that is not true. Also whilst the apartment has a full bathroom, the shower had little to no pressure whilst we were staying. Finally, there were some minor maintenance issues like the bathroom door was very stiff to open, these could be resolved very easily.”
