Regular travel between El Paso and its Mexican sister city of Juárez has led to a blend of cuisines, with rice and beans, fajitas, and chalupas cooked with authentic Mexican flavors, while barbecue is prepared 'Texas-style'. Book a hotel in Downtown El Paso to enjoy offerings from some of the region's best chefs, ranging from hole-in-the-wall cafés to fine dining restaurants. Stay near Canutillo to the north for authentic Mexican flavors at cantinas and roadside cafeterías. Find accommodations farther north in Anthony, just across the river from New Mexican wineries that utilize a wide variety of grapes including Spanish specialties Albariño and Tempranillo.

Downtown El Paso is relatively compact, which makes it a great place to stay when visiting outdoor sites including the San Jacinto Plaza, El Paso Zoo, and Scenic Drive Overlook. Book a hotel on the east side of El Paso to have the best access to Hueco Tanks State Park for rock climbing and star gazing. To the north accommodations in Borderland or Canutillo are convenient for hiking in Franklin Mountains State Park and Borderland is ideal for exploring the Rio Grande River Park Trail System. Hotels to the south provide access to river wetlands areas near Socorro. The city also has about a dozen golf courses spread across El Paso neighborhoods.

El Paso's museums celebrate its unique blend of cultures as well as its important function at the U.S. and Mexican border. Downtown El Paso is a great place to stay for museums, including the El Paso Museum of Art and Museum of History. Hotels on the east side of El Paso are the best for seeing Indian rock carvings at Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site. Stay in Clint to explore the San Elizario historic neighborhood including Old El Paso County Jail Museum and Los Portales Museum. Book accommodations near El Paso International Airport for Fort Bliss and Old Ironsides Museum, or stay in Northeast El Paso for the National Border Patrol Museum.
