“This is one of the few places to stay in the ferry port of Stromness, Mainland Orkney. The staff (and pretty much everyone on the island) are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is well-located close to the ferry to mainland Scotland. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The included breakfast is marvelous! The main drawbacks are that the building is old, so there is no parking and no elevator. The hotel is staffed only by the breakfast servers and then the bartender, so checking in is……

“We had a very enjoyable and restful 5-night stay here. The accommodation was very comfortable and in a convenient location for getting around the island (and travelling to others), while being nice and quiet as well. It's a shame that the restaurant is currently out of action but there are plenty of options in quite easy driving distance (although we would advise booking ahead, as a lot of them were quite sought-after). “came for another wonderful trip to Orkney. Accommodation was good with plenty of room. Felt it could benefit from a 2nd toilet/bathroom. the rooms were very spacious. more wardrobe /hanging space would be good in twin rooms. The dishwasher and washing machine were both very clean as were the bedding, which was on comfortable beds. We were very pleased with this choice and would be happy to stay here again. Sadly, while we were there, muck spreading was in progress, however, this didn't impact……

“A lovely, quiet, peaceful spot. Easy access to Kirkwall and Stromness. Fully equipped kitchen, it was nice to cook and eat there rather than in restaurants or pubs. Hosts were great, highly recommended.”
