“Disappointed that the room we were given had opaque film over window, found out why when we opened window to find out view was a building site. Little sleep as could hear every footstep from either room above or corridor. Food in restaurant was delicious.”

“Brilliant, What a lovely welcome, a roaring log fire and instant access to our room without any fuss. The hosts were very friendly and attentative throughout our stay. A lovely comfortable room with all the amenities. Breakfast was amazing. contintental yes, but we were offered and given scrambled eggs on toast cooked to perfection. The only downside was the stairs, being a very old building the stairs were very steep and not for the elderly or infirm. The hotel was beautifully decorative and……

“The property was lovely and warm, clean and the staff made me very welcome. I arrived too late to have dinner but the breakfast was lovely in the morning. If I was in the area I would most definately stay there again.”

“Just returned from wonderful two night stay at Black burn Lodge and it lives up to the rave reviews. Stunning location by the river, where we spent the evenings in the gazebo enjoying the views and a glass of Baileys . The room was spotlessly clean with high quality bedlinen and furnishings. Also separate lounge if weather not great. The hosts make you feel so welcome and provide a lot of formation about where to eat and visit in the area. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again.”

“Great place to stay after a long drive - easy access to A74(M) but far enough away to avoid the road noise. Spotless en-suite room with tea coffee & Tunnocks teacake, yum. Wake-up to a relaxing view of green pastures and dairy herd. Welcoming host and superb Scottish breakfast. Highly recommended.”

“We had a wonderful Easter Weekend in the log cabin. Location is great - 20/25 mins from Carlisle, lots of lovely walks around. So peaceful, the log cabin itself is fab and has everything you need. Tracey and David were really friendly and i enjoyed lots of strokes with the dogs too! We will 100% be back again soon, thank you for such a great weekend away”
