Nice old hotel w/reasonable upgrades. They wont allow you to even bring in your water bottle or coffee cup into either Pub ir Dining rm.... I get it to some degree. Its just that when you are older and need water to deal with everyday coughing, you aren't allowed to have that w/ you while waiting for service, etc.

Very quaint. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean but too small with the double bed. I stayed there before and would definitely go back to the queen room.

The James Bay Inn is a beautiful old property just minutes from many of the attractions one comes to Victoria to see. A five minute walk in one direction takes you to the gorgeous Beacon Hill Park. A ten minute walk brings you to the harbour and downtown Victoria. 15 minutes and you are walking along the cliffs overlooking the Juan de Fuca strait, able to trek down to the rocky shore below and explore to your heart’s content. As for the Inn itself, it is clean, affordable, and comfortable, the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful, the restaurant has a wonderful selection of very tasty meals, and the pub is a neighbourhood hub - a busy place that makes everyone feel welcome! We have stayed at the James Bay Inn several times and have never been disappointed.

Nice inn. Walkable distance from museums and the harbor. It was convienient having a nice breakfast place that opens at 7:30 am. In a nice neighborhood with beautiful victorisn homes. The room was clean but the bed was really uncomfortable. Spring matress with very little padding.
