“Delightful cabin in a peaceful setting. However, I was trying to escape fireworks for my terrified dog and instead had 2 stressful nights of loud fireworks. A country locale is not always the answer.”

“Stay was amazing very restful. Beds comfy and plenty of space for everyone. Great place to stay with family . Owners very welcoming! Definitely stay there again. Thanks for a great stay!”

“A very nicely refurbished cottage with all necessary equipment and appliances. 50 metres walk to the mostly deserted beach. Not much to do in Powfoot itself, so driving is essential. Caravan park cafe very good and Powfoot hotel good if you don't have a dog.”

“The property was in a beautiful location and inside was lovely and clean. Also everything you need in the cupboards Garden area was great and a lot of the farm animals came to say hello Nice walks nearby and other lovely places to visit by car. Would recommend people who are looking for a peaceful stay especially if you have a dog”

“Zeer vriendelijke en behulpzaam indien nodig. Mooie locatie als uitvalsbasis voor wandelen en motor/auto naar alle richtingen. Lekker rustig. De vloer kraakt wat 😁 maar dat heeft zijn charme. Prima.”

“Didn't actually manage to stay here and had to book alternative accommodation at short notice. Despite checking in online earlier that morning and advising of expected arrival time, I didn't receive the code for the lock box and all attempts at contacting the host failed, no response to phone calls or text messages, in fact the host declined my calls on numerous occasions. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED that this host left a solo female traveler stood outside in the rain and in the dark for over an hour……

“Property is in a great location in this bucolic setting. The view out the patio door is beautiful with sheep and cattle grazing on green pastures with wooded hillsides in the background. House was spotless, well appointed. Hosts most gracious. Highly recommend!”

“We regularly stay in holiday properties; most are adequate to good and they vary quite a lot in terms of being well equipped and the quality and taste of decor and furnishings. Eileen & Richard’s house is unquestionably one of the nicest we’ve ever stayed at. The entire house is tastefully and thoughtfully furnished, the kitchen has everything you could need and more; bedrooms comfortable and there are many small, but well considered little touches throughout the house that make it feel so……

“Lovely caravan which was very clean and dog friendly. Well stocked including bowls for doggy. Communication from the owners was excellent. They even sent us a list of dog friendly walks some with dog friendly pubs. Lovely dog friendly pub Mason Arms just across the road from the camp where they let doggy sit under the table whilst owners had a meal. It was a small caravan site which was quiet and well laid out just what we needed.”

“Lovely quite country location, off-street parking & all the comforts of home. Near train station if public transport is required, however noise from trains was not an issue. 'The stables is ideal for a couple with small kitchen if wanting to cook.”

“A gem for everyone seeking a quiet retreat from city bustle, Oakbank Farm Cottage is still merely 20 minutes outside Dumfries. Linda and Rab are delightful, friendly hosts, helpful in every instance. We will be pleased to stay with them again when the opportunity arises.”

“This house is truly brilliant, lots of space inside and out, very clean, lots of supplies and well though out ‘extras’ eg, fire lighters for bbq and log burner, sewing kit, games etc. I had contacted the owners for some other information and their response was immediate and supportive, all very reassuring. The house is in a quiet area of the park, easy access to the beach, neighbours very friendly, and extremely good value for money. I can’t recommend this property enough, and hope to return one……

“Such a peaceful location. Great for walking. The hotel itself is in excellent condition. My room had a great sea view and the decor was modern, clean and sympathetic. I had dinner in the hotel and there was a varied choice using locally sourced ingredients. The breakfast was also locally sourced and prepared to order. Just one gripe.. the shower. It took forever for the hot water to come through and the rain head wasn't working. The water pressure was not strong either but i guess that's not……
