I appreciated the location of the hotel: Right next to the Waikiki Beach and also a convenient 12 minute walk to Ala Moana which has a ton of great food and shopping options. It was about a 15 minute walk to Royal Hawaiian Center, International Marketplace and all those newer hotel areas in East Waikiki, and less than 15 minutes to 7-11 and the food truck park.
The hotel is somewhat older but still okay. However the front desk staff did not really explain the facilities when I checked in, and when my tv remote stopped working on day 2, I turned it into the front desk who said a new one would be sent up to my room. Every day I asked the front desk about it and it was a new person who kept saying the same thing: what's your room number, one will be sent up... for 3 days. Finally, one front desk staff, John, said to call guest services if a new remote doesn't arrive within 20 minutes. That's what I had to do, and 5 minutes later I had a new remote delivered. Why the front desk didn't communicate with guest services for 3 days, I'm not sure...
On the noisier side at night, the sound proofing for outside is not that great but the sound proofing between rooms seems excellent (either that or no one was staying in the rooms around me?).
There are two FloWater water dispensers for filling your bottles on the first and second floor. I'm saying this cuz the front desk didn't say anything about it but it would have been nice to know from day 1.
