Overall, the hotel was really nice and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The ambiance and decor was really cozy. It’s conveniently located close to many tourist attractions and is walkable to various neighborhoods. And we really liked the lobby bar and the coffee shop.
The reason I can’t give it five stars is because the room was too small for us and there was no storage to keep our belongings out of the way, so it became a bit cramped with our luggage and belongings. However, it would be perfect for a minimalist and/or solo traveler. If you travel heavy— these rooms probably aren’t for you!
In addition, while I have noticed this becoming a trend in hotels recently, the lighting was very dim— especially near the mirrors— it literally felt like you were getting dressed in the dark. My wife had to go out and buy a mirror so she could use the natural light from the window to get ready every morning.
Another reason I’m unable to give it a five star rating is because of the noise. Street noise is one thing— especially in NYC— however, on more than one occasion, my wife and/or I were woken up in the middle of the night by someone vacuuming. You could also hear those in the neighboring rooms.
Lastly, we happened to notice our bedding was stained. Not the end of the world; however, considering how much they charge for these rooms, I would not expect to have stained duvet.
