“Ocracoke in the early spring is always a treat and this visit did not disappoint. Red Beard's Retreat is a little gem one block off Hwy 12 across from the village Variety store. Our unit was comfortably furnished and check-in was seamless. We had everything we needed and the housekeeper, Maria, lived upstairs and was always available to answer any questions we had. It was obvious that much time and thought went into the furnishing and design of the unit. We plan to visit again next year and……

The tenant above us was super loud all night. However, that is not on the property manager. Just inconsiderate tenants. Overall, we really liked this property and would recommend it to others.”

“We loved the location of the property. It is in a very quiet area on the island and Derek has thought of everything one could possibly need. We felt like the house was bigger than it appeared in the listing. Having the golf cart at the house was huge and saved us a few hundred dollars by not having to rent one. Derek was great to work with. My truck had to get towed off the island but he sent someone to the house to try to assist to fix the problem. We’ve really couldn’t have asked for a better……

“We loved everything about this adorable cottage! It was well stocked and had lovely decor. There are four bedrooms and a fenced in yard for dogs. The screened porch is prefect for morning coffee and listening to the birds. There is privacy all around and in such a great location.”

“The Sound House exceeded all our expectations! Pictures don't do it justice. The traditional beach cottage has lovely decor, a well-equiped kitchen, and a wonderful view and access to the sound. We loved being able to launch our kayaks from the backyard. We having been coming to the island for 35+ years and this is now our favorite cottage. Perfect for a couple's getaway!”

“The property itself was clean and as advertised, but was still smaller than anticipated. We had to store our empty suitcase in our car because there is no room. There is no privacy if you use the porch and upper deck which was annoying. The neighbors are so close you can hear each other’s conversations and you could probably touch each other if you reached out. That’s how close the units are to each other. The upper deck was very nice and we enjoyed using it, until the neighbors came out on……

“perfect spot right next to the Cedar Island ferry. only "issue" was the AC unit in the bedroom was very loud. The one in the living room was much quieter. overall great place and perfect for our family of 3!”

“We traveled in for a fishing trip and needed a place to stay overnight. I didn’t expect much due to short notice and pricing and they were working on the siding of the building. But once I arrived the room was very clean and decorated very nicely. It provided me with everything we needed.”

“The place was perfect for me! I definitely enjoyed myself, I thought it would be right on beach but location was perfect for a quick stroll! I did have an issue getting in, the instructions given was off but I figured it out after a few tries! Place looks better than picture with new paint job, new sofa, kitchen was perfect and had everything I needed to cook while I was there. “Second stay here. Love the location and the studio has everything you need. The hot tub was heavenly especially on the cold nights I was there. Met the owner this trip and Mark was very friendly and welcoming as always. A mile to the ferry which I took to Ocracoke and spent the day. Plenty to do on Hatteras so much history, shopping and beautiful beaches. Love it there!”
