Watch a show at the historic Phoenix Theatre, one of the oldest of its kind, dating back to 1920. Its new building has a modern, glassy atrium and a colorful lighting display. Just across the street, attend one of the classical operatic performances at the Arizona Opera.
Between these two majestic theaters is the Phoenix Art Museum, where you can view the latest temporary exhibits. It features an eclectic collection, ranging from fashion and photography, to modern and contemporary. Admire the sleek design of the Viad Tower and go shopping in the Park Central Mall.
Spend time outside to appreciate the zone’s impressive scenery. Encanto Park is one of the city’s highlights, with a vast lagoon and swimming pool. Bring your kids to the Enchanted Island amusement park, which has rides for folks of all ages. Play golf on one of the park’s two picturesque courses and fish for rainbow trout and largemouth bass in the water. Marking the northern edge of the district is Sunnyslope Mountain, recognizable by the giant S on its slope.
