"DO NOT STAY HERE. We were hoping for a resort-style place to unwind for a day before we travelled to Sapa. We arrived at 6am hoping for an early check-in. We paid NZD90 for a night and were charged USD80 (NZD120) to check in early. Breakfast was sparse and tastes awful - this place had the worst selection we have encountered so far. The place feels eerie, like you're in a horror movie. Everything smells like cigarette smoke. The only other guests we saw were what looked like Chinese high rollers...

"Lovely hostel in a rural village. It's a.ahort walk up a steep road that is too narrow for cars, although motorbikes frequent it. This is a backpacker destination and we were the only ones there with children. The hosts are very helpful, and the people in the village are kind. Anywhere you go will involve walking steep paths, and if you choose to do any trekking, expect a challenge if you are not an experienced hiker. Also expect a lot of mud, so pack appropriately. "Really helpful we checked in really early tired from the train and were helped with every request by all staff. We looked at other hotels when we stayed in Lau Cai and were glad we stayed here. Lau Cai is a fascinating place with the Chinese Border and the Red River. a couple of days is a good rest here. I had to change plans often and The Lady Manager helped me with Facebook messages in English changing dates and arranging a cheap transfer to Sapa."

"Its higher up in the hills, its far enough from the busy areas so its peacefull, all you hear is the chickens. Mountains look foggy and mysterious. Its a good location to go in walks from, I saw lots of the famous terraced fields. Room was clean and nice, good service and communication from the hosts. 250k VND to go to Sapa town, but the countryside is better than the town"

"I am speechless with this hotel in a good way! Everything was excellent all around. The staff was very friendly and helpful, breakfast was amazing with lots of food choices with the view into the mountains and rice fields.The room was very clean and everything was functional. The best part was the view from the room into the mountain and rice fields. I highly recommend this Hotel."
