“The refrigerator had a terrible fishy odor. We cleaned it several times but every time it was opened, the house smelled. The outdoir deck furniture was dirty and full of sand and debris. Feel the place could use a little sprucing up. Manager was very nice and friendly but feel a little more attention from cleaning staff would be good. Bath mats needed a good vacuum.”

“The restaurant that is promoted in the materials you are given when you arrive make it seem to be part of the Courtyard and it is not. Arriving late and wanting room service was a hassle.”

“Neat little spot in the central Keys! The grounds and layout of Captain Pips make you feel like you’re staying at a little resort! The several small buildings that house the rooms are colourful and have nice landscaping. I had some concerns the local restaurant (Porkys?) would be a dive bar, but we actually shared a great dinner and breakfast by the water there, really liked it for our family’s food needs. And the kids fed fish and saw a manatee in the harbour out front. The only down side is……

“Room 501 - Canal side. Clean and comfortable property. While the building I was in is dated, the room was very clean, good size and the bed was comfortable. A rarity in US hotels, the air conditioner was actually quiet and worked perfectly. The only not great thing was the door to the outside - did not fit the frame well resulting in the deadbolt not working and the main door lock is a simple door knob with a push in lock. I never felt unsafe though. The property has a nice pool area and……
