“This is the third time we have stayed at the black bear lodge in Stratton and every time we stay our experience is the same.. excellent. The staff are all so nice and accommodating, the property is clean and the breakfast is perfect. The rooms are comfortable and clean, it really is the perfect place to stay in Vermont. See you in October. ”

“We had an excellent off-season stay here. The staff are all super friendly and accommodating. The rooms were exceptionally clean, spacious, with very comfortable beds. The whole property is friendly to dogs on leashes(except possibly inside The Red Slate Restaurant). We stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful time exploring nearby Manchester, Londonderry, and Dorset. The Red Slate had an excellent menu and we ate there for 2 dinners and breakfasts (reservations on Open Table Suggested). The bar……

“If you are looking for up-to-the-minute decor, this is not the place for you. But our hosts' warm welcome and happy atmosphere worked for us. The dinner restaurant recommendation was great (Ye Olde Tavern), our host-prepared-breakfast (eggs to order) was excellent. The beds seemed a little soft but were totally comfortable, the inn was quiet and we slept like rocks. I imagine it would be a great place to chill out in the lounge after a long day skiing or hiking (or shopping). I wish we could……

“Beautiful location and lodge. Rooms were great. Showers were amazing!! Didn’t know restaurant was closed on Sundays. And therefore there were no other guests at the lodge. Had the whole place to ourselves. ”

“This is a very sweet, cozy and comfortable stay. Very clean rooms, the grounds are well cared for, dappled by potted plants, and there’s plenty of outdoor seating areas to enjoy. One downside is that it is on a busy road, so it’s not super quiet but nonetheless - it’s still a gem and rare to find such a place. Highly recommend!”

“Agreed with all comments about the exceptional home made style breakfast. However, the second night there was a group playing guitar and singing. With over 200 years house, this was not welcomed especially after a tiring long ski day. Phoned hotel and also Expedia on that same night but both myself and Expedia could not get hold off host for resolution. Got to know next Morning that the voicemail probably was played and heard but did not take action. These days with many craziness in the news,……
