“Nice small one-room cabin in the woods. The road is dirt and could have been difficult to traverse in snowy weather without 4-wheel drive, but was fine when we visited.”

“Very clean and comfortable”

“It was our first time in the castle itself, usually we stay in the lower hotel but the rates were comparable to the least expensive so I booked one night in the “castle”. The only complaint we really had was the heater in the room was controlled from a thermostat that was down the hall and was for the entire building so our room was either cold or way too hot even with the windows open in late April. That being said it was only when you were getting in or out of the shower and getting ready for……

“I enjoyed my stay at the Shire. It’s an odd mix of comfort, luxury, bargain and practicality. The room was clean and comfortable, if a bit worn. I sprang for a river front room, which was an excellent idea. The deck outside my door was right off of the lawn at the edge of the water, and it was a delight to have the soothing water sounds outside. In better weather, you can use the fire pits and Adirondack chairs to create a cozy vibe at the water’s edge. The drawback to the waterfront rooms……

“Everything was clean and working. The condo was very comfortable and the Murphy bed was a lot more comfortable than a pull out couch. We also enjoyed the hot tub. Also after 8 inches of new snow overnight the pathways and parking lot were cleared before 7 am.”

Enjoyed the daily breakfast (although a little variation in the hot items would be better) the gym and the great location near the airport and shopping and dining in west Lebanon. The staff (although short staffed) were always helpful. Would return. ”

“The home is charming, immaculate and amidst woods with no neighbors in eye or earshot. It is on a dirt road, so an awd vehicle is a good idea. A stream runs along the driveway. The Ottauquechee River is across the road. The bathroom is on the first floor, and bedrooms on the second floor. The smoke detector goes off if you saute on the stove. I recommend learning how to turn off a wired in smoke detector. You should open the kitchen window when you saute, because most of the smoke detectors……
