I was traveling with my hula sister and we wanted to watch the Merrie Monarch Festival on TV. The television was old with poor reception. I tried to contact the host through VRBO but couldn't get through. Called the VRBO help line and they cut me off so we watched on my computer instead. Glad I had it with me! Otherwise a pleasant stay.”

“My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at the cottage. While nothing fancy, the house is neat, clean and has a well equipped kitchen. It is also very close to the entry of Volcanoes National Park. The owner was great at communicating and very pleasant to work with. I strongly recommend staying here during your visit to the National Park.”

We never tire of visiting Kilauea when we visit the Big Island and Jim's lodging is only about a mile from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park. “Impossible to beat the proximity to Volcanos NP. The price point is fantastic relative to similar properties. The rooms were clean and well stocked with anything you might need. Welcome treat was a great touch. The property itself was cool and definitely decorated in a unique, cool manner. But what made this place excellent were the hosts, Joy and John, who clearly want your stay to be great. And ours was.”

“Great location close to Volcano park. Musty smelling room – very damp environment. It was a bit cool and the small heater didn’t really work. There is a dirt driveway and parking area. Enjoyed the delicious muffins and papaya which were provided.”

“We enjoyed our stay here. I would have liked to have a chest drawers or suitcase stand to put my bag on, along with clothes. (There were hooks.) Not a big deal, just a nicety that I missed. Other than that, it was super great to be able to hike in the park and come back for lunch or nap and return for sunset or other areas.”
